BIO
I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art (University of Edinburgh) in 2011. In 2010 I went on exchange to the Athens School of Fine Art (Greece) where I learnt the traditional technique of mosaic.
Since graduating I have worked on a variety of art projects and initiatives in Bolivia, Belgium, Russia, Greece and the UK. In 2012 I co-founded and later became director of Black Cube Collective, an independent art organisation providing accessible opportunities to new and emerging artists. In 2016, I became vice president of Rootsi Arcadia, a start-up natural agriculture initiative based in a small Greek village where I have involved artists in the regeneration of land and forest. In 2016 Union Gallery held a solo exhibition of my works titled Seven Deadly Sins.
Between 2013-2014, together with project partner Maja Quille, I delivered two public artworks in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge commissioned by Edinburgh Napier University. The artworks entitled Tree of Knowledge and Imprint focus on the local heritage as well as commemorating WW1 efforts in the area. In 2019 Maja and I installed Musselburgh Archer, a prominent public art project for Musselburgh town centre, commissioned by the East Lothian Council and which was later awarded the Design Award by the Musselburgh Conservation Society.
As a solo public artist, in 2018 I completed a large outdoor mosaic mural A Selkirk Legacy in Selkirk, a Selkirk Flood Protection Scheme Community Art Project commissioned by Scottish Borders Council.
In 2019 I delivered two public artworks commissioned by Viridor (a recycling and renewable energy company) - a 5-metre tall tree sculpture Viridor Tree made out of steel, concrete and recycled glass and a 4x2-metre Litter Mural made with the help of the local community, entirely out of coastal litter, for Viridor’s Visitor Centre in Dunbar.
In 2020 I worked in collaboration with Gordon Simpson of Big Red Blacksmiths to create a sculpture of a giant head of a roman soldier called Silvanus. It was commissioned as part of a wider Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project and managed by five local authorities and Historic Environment Scotland. The artwork and the site were subsequently awarded the Engaging People Award 2021 (outdoor category) by the Association of Heritage Interpretation.
In 2022 I completed Burnham-on-Sea-Life (Mudflat), a mosaic mural triptych illustrating wildlife of all sizes found in the unique mudflat habitat in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset.
In 2023 I installed the first large public art sculpture which I made myself out of aluminium and fibreglass, Dormouse was designed together with the local community and pays homage to the protected species. Also in 2023, I finished a large sculptural artwork entitled River for the Almondell Cemetery in East Calder.
